"Well, I do that all the time and often times it will be in genres I know that I will never tap into. But what's inspiring to me about artists or bands that really give me that feeling isn't really so much about the genre, it is more about what they've brought to their particular genre that I've felt moved the needle. I think that when I hear interesting classical influences in all sorts, if you listen to System of a Down, Muse, Keane, or whatever it's like incredible. When you walk into a record store and see pop, rock, classical, everybody is doing everything and I tend to like artists that within the first 30 seconds of hearing them I know exactly who they are, I can say that I like the way they sound for them and not because I particularly like that genre. And I can only aspire to be that kind of artist in my world. And it's fun for me to try and move that needle."
